Little Red House
Architect:
Robert Gerloff
SALA Architects
Total Sq. Ft.: 2028 Bedrooms: 3 Baths: 2.0
This split-level design allows two walk-out bedrooms on the lower level and a master bedroom situated at tree-house level. Although less than 2000 square feet, sloping ceilings and an open floor plan create a spacious interior. Carefully placed windows on all walls allow a continuous stream of light throughout the day.
Burleigh
Architect:
Bruce Wydeven
Milwaukee Craftsman, LLC
Total Sq. Ft.: 1984 Bedrooms: 3 Baths: 2.5
Burleigh is a 2-story craftsman farmhouse that is at home nearly anywhere. This unique design has two crossing gables with partial shed dormers that bring in abundant natural light. It has arts & crafts detailing inside and out. Although this house has a large feel, is less than 2,000 square feet.
Porch Cabin
Architect:
Dale Mulfinger
SALA Architects Inc.
Total Sq. Ft.: 1932 Bedrooms: 3 Baths: 2.0
Clean and simple, the Porch Cabin at under 2,000 square feet seems at first glance, modest by many home standards. However, its efficient floor plan provides plenty of room for guests when built as a weekend retreat, as well as plenty of space for those seeking a smaller primary residence.
September House
Architect:
Dale Mulfinger
SALA Architects Inc.
Total Sq. Ft.: 1920 Bedrooms: 3 Baths: 2.5
Designed by architects Deb Kees and Dale Mulfinger, the clean lines and modest, efficient shape of September House was inspired by homes of late nineteenth century mid-western river towns. The interior space has a more modern open plan, and places a central kitchen at the heart of the home. Outdoor living happens at the home's covered front porch and at rear screen porch. Although very much at home in a rural location, the relatively small footprint of September House makes it a good choice for many suburban settings as well.
Natural Habitat
Architect:
David Arkin & Anni Tilt
Arkin-Tilt Architects
Total Sq. Ft.: 1860 Bedrooms: 4 Baths: 2.0
Natural Habitat is featured in the newly released book, "The New Strawbale Home", received the Western Home Award from Sunset magazine, and was featured in Real Simple Magazine. The architects, David Arkin & Anni Tilt, a husband and wife team, conceived of and designed this home to give the residents a sense of being at home in nature.
