Description

Small and simple, the Ogden home was originally designed as an in-law cottage or guesthouse. It is primarily intended to be a secondary structure to a larger residence, or for those that just have minimal needs. Our Ogden 2 home is identical to this design, but has a one car garage, slightly oversized for extra room for storage.

Ideal for elderly or disabled occupants, the entire home is on a single level with no steps and 3 foot wide doorways throughout. The bathroom is handicap accessible with space to maneuver a wheelchair, grab bars, and a barrier-free shower stall. Similarly, halls and kitchen are roomy enough to maneuver a wheelchair.

Efficient radiant heated floors provide a comfortable and constant heat where it is needed the most. Cathedral ceilings and clerestory windows in the dining and living room bring in healthy natural light and give the home a much larger feeling than the 1,350 square foot size would suggest. Its simple rectangular footprint with eased roof edges make it easy and economical to construct, yet give it a bold massing. This straightforward elegant form was typical of the arts & crafts designs in the Mid-west in the 1920's. The name of this home comes from Marion G. Ogden who was a social reformer in Milwaukee in the early 1900's.
